Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Raul Granados immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of nine. They made Pasadena, Texas, their home, where he spent his childhood, graduating from Sam Rayburn High School in 1995. Raul took the civil service exam and joined the Pasadena Police Department on October 22, 2001, as a member of the 52nd Academy Class.

After graduating, he served on Night Shift Patrol, during which time he participated with auxiliary units, like Bike Patrol and the Special Response Group (SRG). Over the next several years, Raul gained valuable experience through training, certifications, and assignments in various divisions, including DOT and Narcotics.

On July 9, 2013, he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to Patrol, where he supervised the K-9 and DWI divisions while maintaining SRG duties, and in 2016, Raul returned to Narcotics as a supervisor. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he transitioned to the Media Relations Office, where he served as a Public Information Officer, providing clear communication with the Pasadena community.

In February 2025, Raul promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and returned to his roots as the Night Shift Patrol Commander, and in May, he graduated with honors from the University of Houston–Downtown, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

Raul was then appointed to his current position as Assistant Chief of Police in August 2025.
