It’s been 22 years since the City of Pasadena has adopted a Parks Master Plan. Through a grant from the Houston Endowment and additional funding from Pasadena Vibrant Community, the City of Pasadena has adopted a new Master Plan. The Healthy Parks Plan team which consisted of members from the Pasadena Parks and Recreation Department, Asakura Robinson, Houston Parks Board and Land + Water Connections.

This 251-page document outlines results and information from extensive community engagement and data gathered through the process. It also identifies current recommendations for improvement while also providing a set of tools for the Pasadena Parks and Recreation Department to use for ongoing adaptive planning and management.

The goal of the Healthy Parks Plan is to identify the highest priority investments to ensure that Pasadena continues to thrive through making its parks healthy, welcoming, and accessible to all. The plan includes a blueprint to implement system-wide and site-specific recommendations improving and adding new features to current parks.

Implementation of this plan will take time and funding. The City will work to gain support in the budget to fund projects that help accomplish the goals and objectives of this plan. Other sources will also be explored that include state and federal funding, grants, industry partners and other opportunities. In the next several years, look forward to some new exciting improvements to our City’s Parks and Recreation Department.
