COVID-19 Protocols

Temporary Operating Procedures

Pasadena Animal Shelter & Animal Control has adapted its operations to protect community health and safety while simultaneously placing shelter pets in loving, forever homes.

As of June 26, 2020:

Due to the spike in confirmed COVID cases throughout the State of Texas and Harris County, the City of Pasadena will close all departments designated as non-essential beginning Monday, June 29, until further notice. As such, Pasadena Animal Control and Adoptions will be modifying hours, staff, and certain services as follows:

Hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Lobby access will be by appointment only for adopters and fosters or those with previously-scheduled medical appointments. Only three customers will be allowed in the lobby at one time. If you do not have an appointment, please call in advance to discuss your needs.

To adopt or foster, complete an online application. Staff will contact you by phone or email to notify you of approval and schedule an appointment for you to meet/pick up the pet specified in your application. Our current application processing time is three days. Please check your voicemail and junk email folders; if you have not heard from us by the fourth business day, email adoptions@pasadenatx.gov.

Adoption fees will be $5 for cats and $20 for dogs. As always, it will be free to foster.

We will be unable to facilitate on-site visits with pets unless you have an approved adoption or foster application. Animals at our shelter can be viewed at www.pasadenashelter.petfinder.com or www.PetHarbor.com (use zip code 77504).

Shelter staff will not be responding to questions posed on social media, as is our standard policy. Email adoptions@pasadenatx.gov or call 281-991-0602 for information.

We will not accept ANY cats or dogs unless the animal is critically injured, has bitten a person/animal, or presents an imminent threat to the community. In the event an animal has attacked, a bite report and investigation will be conducted.

Animal Control Officers will no longer be on patrol, but will respond to emergencies. Shelter phone lines will be open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. After hours, contact the police department if you believe a situation involving an animal constitutes an emergency.

These policies will be in effect until further notice. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this time.
